Volunteer for us
The Pirate Club has a large team of volunteers, without whom we would not be able to provide the scope of activities that we are currently able to.
We organise social events and training for our volunteers, and really treasure the help that they give us.
We currently need volunteers for the following positions:
Boat Club helpers:
We run children’s kayaking/canoeing sessions every Tuesday and Thursday from 5pm to 6:30pm. We need people to help to supervise the children on the water. These sessions are currently quite small (usually eight or less children) but we like to have a high ratio of helpers to children. There will be opportunities in the future for helpers to receive training in child protection, 1st aid, Kayak instructor training and Disablity Equality Training. No particular experience is needed for this post but it would be helpful if you liked boats, water and young people
Admin workers:
We are working on computerising all of our records, using Access databases. We will be looking for people to kelp us to transfer over the information that we currently have in paper files – into these new databases. You will need to be fairly computer literate for this post, as we need people who will be able to just get on with the work with very little help.
We can pay your travel costs and will provide refreshments during any sessions and trips, and you will be covered by our insurance while you are working for us.
We believe in equal opportunities for all. Volunteers, paid workers and the members of the Pirate Club are all responsible for ensuring that the club is a safe and pleasant place for everyone to be.
