Outdoor Education for Schools & Youth Services

At the Pirate Castle we offer young people the opportunity to develop new skills and interests by participating in adventurous activities. Through these activities students can develop their ability to respond effectively to problems and physical challenges, both individually and as part of a team.

The Pirate Castle has a good history of working closely with surrounding schools and youth clubs to help meet the needs of their young people. We therefore ensure that, whilst being fun, all our activities complement key stage learning in the four main areas of development

  • Acquisition of new skills
  • Selection and application of skills and tactics
  • Evaluation and improved performance
  • Knowledge and understanding of fitness principles

Within each of these areas a range of soft skills are positively encouraged including, effective communication, motivation of team members and respect of peers.

The activities

All of our sessions are run by fully qualified staff and are tailored to suit the needs of each group. They can range from a quick taster session to full curriculum based programs which run throughout the year.

This will include an individual skills record, evaluation report of the group as a whole and the issuing of any certification.

From time to time we may also ask the students to fill in a quick evaluation of our service so that we can maintain good standards.
